Reliance Energy has been mandated the project for
constructing two group captive power plants catering to industrial areas in
Maharashtra.
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC)
plans to develop two power plants at Butibori near Nagpur and at the Thane-Belapur

unit (indicative) that was Re.0.50 lower than those quoted by other bidders --
Tata Power and Larsen & Toubro.
The formal contract for this project will be
signed during September 2005.
MIDC has also identified industrial areas at
Kagal (Kolhapur), Ranjanwadi (Ahmednagar), Hinjewadi (Pune) and Tarapur (Thane)
for similar group captive power plants.
