On 11 November, 2025, a high-level delegation from Maharashtra’s Water Resources Department (WRD) visited the Polavaram Project site to assess the progress and engineering features of the water infrastructure.
The delegation, comprising ten officials, examined critical structures such as the spillway, diaphragm wall, coffer dams, and the hydroelectric power plant. Representatives from Andhra Pradesh Water Resources and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures (MEIL) briefed the team on the project’s construction stages, design, and technologies. Particular attention was given to Polavaram's spillway system, one of the largest globally, capable of managing high flood volumes.
The officials also reviewed the project’s advanced engineering techniques, machinery, and construction timeline, noting its integration with irrigation and flood control systems. This visit aims to aid in knowledge sharing and technical collaboration between the states for large-scale water resource management.
