Reliance Power (RPower) has decided to expand the capacity of its Rosa
thermal power plant in Shahjehanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
RPower is expected to raise the capacity from the current 1,200 MW to 2,400
MW which is likely to cost Rs 6,000 crore.
Currently, one unit of 600 MW is operational while another 600 MW unit is
slated to commence power generation by March 2012. According to sources, since
the company already has the land and water linkages in place, the expansion work
will be carried out simultaneously with the ongoing project.
