THDC India (THDCIL) has successfully synchronised the 660-MW second unit of its Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) with the national grid.
Located in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, the project has a total capacity of 1,320 MW (2x660 MW) and represents an investment of approx. Rs 13,000 crore. Synchronisation is a crucial step in power generation, involving alignment of a unit’s frequency and voltage with the main grid to enable seamless electricity transmission and supply. With this achievement, THDCIL moves closer to fully operationalising the Khurja STPP, which is expected to play a vital role in strengthening power availability in Uttar Pradesh and the northern region.
The project is designed to enhance grid stability and meet the rising energy demand, contributing to the state’s industrial and economic growth. Once both units are fully operational, the plant will significantly add to the country’s thermal power capacity, improving energy security and supporting national development.
