Vedanta’s arm Meenakshi Energy (MEL) has announced the full operationalisation of its 1,000 MW thermal power plant in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, within two years of acquisition.
The facility consists of two 350 MW and two 150 MW units. Earlier this year, the 150 MW units were stabilised, followed by the commissioning of the 350 MW units this month. According to the company, the plant will supply dependable power to nearby industrial clusters while also contributing stable baseload energy to the national grid. The achievement marks a significant step in Vedanta’s efforts to strengthen India’s energy security and support industrial growth.
Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO-Power, Vedanta highlighted, “This comeback reinforces our commitment to meeting India's growing energy needs and marks a defining chapter in our journey to become the country's most efficient and sustainability-driven power producer.”
