Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has auctioned 420 MW capacity against the tendered capacity of 1.2 GW to procure round-the-clock (RTC) power from ISTS-connected renewable energy (RE) projects. The tender was floated in October 2024.

Hero Solar Energy and Hexa Climate Solutions have won 120 MW and 100 MW, respectively, at a tariff of Rs 5.06/kWh. Sembcorp Green Infra and Jindal India won 50 MW and 150 Mw, respectively, for Rs 5.07/kWh.
The successful bidders will set up the transmission network to the interconnection or delivery point. They will also identify land, install and own the projects, obtain connectivity and approvals, and interconnection with the ISTS network/STU or InSTS network for supply of power to SECI.

The work also entails setting up energy storage systems to ensure consistent power supply. The minimum voltage level for interconnection at the ISTS will be 220 kV. The power supply from the project will start from 24 months from the signing of PPA. The company can split the cumulative capacity into multiple projects with the above deadline.
