SJVN has successfully synchronised the first 660 MW unit of its 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP) with the National Grid, marking a critical step towards commencing commercial operations.
Located at Chausa, Buxar, Bihar, the project has been developed by SJVN Thermal, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN. Built with supercritical technology for higher efficiency and lower emissions, the Rs 13,756.56 crore project will generate 9,828.72 million units annually, with 85 percent of the output dedicated to Bihar.
The project is expected to enhance power availability, reduce peak-hour shortages, and deliver significant economic and social benefits to Bihar and the Eastern region. Bhupender Gupta, CMD, SJVN, hailed the achievement as “a testament to the dedication and tireless efforts of our project team and all stakeholders,” emphasizing its role in meeting India’s rising energy needs and driving sustained economic growth in Bihar.
