Safechem Industries, producer of detergent powder, is planning to set up its new manufacturing facility in West Bengal.
The project will entail an investment of Rs 30 crore, including the cost of land. The investment will be made from internal accruals.
The company will require about seven to 10 acre of land for the proposed plant. It has identified two locations -- one near Uluberia and another near Singur -- and is in talks with the local authorities for acquiring the land.
After completion of the land acquisition process, the company will take another nine months to set up the unit. The project is expected to be ready for production by the middle of the next financial year. It is expected to have a capacity of 800 tonne per day.
Safechem is unable to scale up the capacity of its two existing plants at Cossipore and at Kamarhati near Kolkata, as these plants have reached the maximum level, resulting in the development of a new unit.
