The Statue of Unity, set to be the tallest statue in the world at Sadhu Island, Kevadia Colony in Narmada district of Gujarat , is expected to be completed by 25 October 2018 ahead of its inauguration on 31 October 2018.
The work on the steel structure of the statue, built in the likeness of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, will be completed by 20 September 2018 and the bronze panels on it will be in place by 10 October 2018.
The finishing work on the statue is expected to be completed by 25 October 2018. More than 86 percent work on the 182 mtr tall statue is over. A Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan to symbolise Sardar’s contribution in a unified India with 52 rooms will also come up at the site.
The inauguration on 31 October 2018 will mark the143rd birth anniversary of India's first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
