Sterlite Technologies intends to infuse Rs 250 crore in enhancing its optical
fibre manufacturing capacity to 20 million km per annum.
Sterlite’s current facility of six million km is already under expansion to
12 million km, expected to be completed by March 2010. The enhanced capacity of
20 million km is slated to be functional by 2011. The expansion is expected to
undergo through a combination of brown-field expansion at its existing facility
in Aurangabad, Maharashtra and a green-field unit at a location that is likely
to be finalised soon.
