MLA Anmol Gagan Mann inaugurated the first phase of a Rs 22.15 crore surface water supply project at New Sunny Enclave, Jandpur Road, Kharar in Chandigarh on 05 August, 2025..

The project is part of the larger Rs 150-crore Kajauli Water Supply Project, aiming to address long-standing water needs of the region. The inaugurated phase is expected to be completed by September 2026 and will initially benefit Jhungian, Mandair Nagar, Harlalpur, Jandpur, and the Chandigarh Road area.

Water for the project will be sourced from the existing GMADA Clear Water Pipeline at Sihnpur, which channels supply from Kajauli to Mohali. It will be stored in a 54 lakh litre Underground Service Reservoir (UGSR) at Jandpur. To maintain pressure and consistent supply, overhead tanks of 18 lakh litres at Jandpur and nine lakh litres at Mandair Nagar will be built. Additionally, 8.1 km of ductile iron pipelines will be laid.
