Swan LNG, a fully owned subsidiary of Swan Energy, has received approval from Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) to build an LNG terminal with ancillary structures for its floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) project at Jafrabad, in the state of Gujarat.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 5,600 crore.
Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) IOC, Oil and Natural Gas Corpn (ONGC), and Bharat Petroleum Corpn (BPCL) have agreed to take one million tpa each on the five million tpa floating LNG terminal.
The company, which is constructing the project in a JV with Exmar of Belgium, is aiming to commission the one jetty-moored FSRU at Jafrabad in 2019. It plans to increase the capacity to 10 million tonne by deployment of a second FSRU.
