Tarmat, in joint venture with JKG, has been awarded an infrastructure development contract worth Rs 248.21 crore by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The contract involves extensive airside development work at Chennai International Airport. The scope includes the construction of eight new rapid exit taxiways (RETs) for Runway 07-25 and three additional RETs for Runway 12-30. Additionally, the project covers the extension of the Parallel Taxi Track-R along with associated link taxi-track and the development of Link Taxi-Track-K1. This expansion is expected to enhance aircraft movement efficiency, reduce runway occupancy time, and increase the overall operational capacity of the airport.
The improvements align with AAI's ongoing efforts to modernize and expand aviation infrastructure across key airports in India. The JV between Tarmat and JKG brings together combined expertise in runway and taxiway construction, which will be crucial for the timely and quality execution of this high-value project at one of India’s busiest airports.
