Tata AutoComp Systems (TACO) will partner with Japan’s Ichikoh Industries to acquire Valeo’s automotive lighting business in India, marking a strategic expansion in advanced lighting solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The acquisition will be executed through a 50:50 joint venture, which will take over the Valeo Lighting Systems (VLS) unit of Valeo India. Ichikoh brings over 120 years of technological expertise, while Tata AutoComp offers deep market reach and reputational strength. Tata AutoComp Vice Chairman Arvind Goel said the JV will allow the company to deliver “technologically superior and differentiated lighting solutions” to Indian OEMs.
Ichikoh’s CEO Christophe Vilatte emphasised that the partnership will combine both firms’ strengths to serve the fast-growing Indian automotive market. The transaction, for an undisclosed sum, is subject to definitive agreements and statutory approvals. Once complete, the JV aims to provide contemporary, high-quality automotive lighting products tailored for India’s rapidly evolving vehicle sector.
