Tata Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Assam government to develop five GW of renewable and clean energy projects, including solar, wind, hydro, and energy storage, with an investment of Rs 30,000 crore over five years. The government will facilitate land allocation of around 20,000 acres and support infrastructure development for seamless transmission and connectivity.
The initiative includes land identification for Group Captive sites, aiding industries and tea gardens in accessing clean energy. Assam has committed to single-window clearances, financial incentives, and collaboration with research institutions for renewable sector innovation. Skill development programs will be introduced to build a trained workforce.
Additionally, Tata Power Renewable Energy has signed an MoU with Assam Power Distribution Company (APDCL) to promote renewable energy adoption and energy efficiency. This agreement emphasises expanding rooftop solar projects under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGY) and generating 3,000 direct job opportunities, strengthening Assam’s clean energy transition and economic growth.
