The Teesta Stage III Power project of 1,200 MW in Sikkim has been commissioned on 18 February, 2017.
Teesta Urja will run the project for a lease period of 35 years on public private partnership model. It is the second largest hydel power project to be commissioned in the nation.
The total cost of the power project is Rs 13,965 crore, including hard cost component worth Rs 7,695 crore and soft cost component worth Rs 6,270 crore.
For the first 15 years the power project will provide 12 percent power free to the state and post that it will be 15 percent.
