The Upper High-Level Canal Project in Banswara is progressing rapidly, with over 1,150 mtrs. of its 2,610-mtrs. tunnel now completed.
This Rs 2,248 crore project aims to provide water for irrigation and drinking to 338 villages across six tehsils. Tunnel construction, which began in December 2024, is progressing at six mtrs. per day, despite challenging mountainous terrain. The project team of 60 workers operates in three shifts, using heavy machinery and explosives for excavation.
District Collector Dr. Inderjeet Yadav highlighted the transformative potential of the project, which will irrigate 42,000 hectares of land and support regional growth in agriculture and mining. Upon completion by November 2026, the canal will release 20,000 litres of water per second, benefiting Banswara's rural areas.
