Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia on 01 November, 2025 laid the foundation stone for the Integrated Sohra Circuit Development Project under the PM-DevINE scheme and launched multiple DoNER projects worth Rs 233 crore in Meghalaya, alongside Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
The Rs 650-crore Sohra Tourism Circuit aims to transform Sohra into a global sustainable tourism destination, with Rs 221 crore from DoNER. The project includes the Rs 115-crore Sohra Experience Centre at Kutmadan, highlighting Meghalaya’s tribal culture through art, rain parks, and amphitheatres.
Supporting projects cover Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Eco Park, and Shella Riverside, expected to generate employment for 4,600 people and boost tourism spending sixfold. Minister Scindia highlighted the region’s transformation under PM Modi, citing Rs 6.2 lakh crore investments in connectivity and growth.
He also inaugurated major infrastructure works, including roads and bridges worth nearly Rs 152 crore, to enhance mobility, trade, and access to Asia’s cleanest village, Mawlynnong.
