Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, highlighted India's growing role as a global leader in clean energy during the inaugural session of the third International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH 2025) in New Delhi.
Minister Joshi also introduced a Rs 100 crore call for proposals to fund pilot projects focused on producing green hydrogen from biomass and waste materials. Launched in 2023 with a Rs 19,744 crore budget, NGHM is designed to decarbonise challenging sectors, support innovative green technologies, and create employment. The initiative has made rapid progress, with notable achievements in green hydrogen production and electrolyser manufacturing.
The new proposal encourages industries and start-ups to contribute to India's hydrogen transition by focusing on cost-effective solutions for biomass-based green hydrogen.
