Uno Minda will set up a greenfield aluminium die casting facility in Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, following approval by its Board of Directors. This strategic investment aligns with the surging demand for lightweight, high-performance components in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) market, particularly for electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) and four-wheelers (e-4Ws).
The project entails a total capital investment of approx. Rs 210 crore, to be implemented in phases over five years, funded through a balanced mix of internal accruals and debt. Phase 1 operations are expected to begin by Q2/FY27. As EV platforms require significantly more aluminium-based structural and thermal components than internal combustion vehicles, the new facility will enhance Uno Minda’s advanced die casting capabilities—essential for both EV powertrain and body applications.
The facility also supports Uno Minda’s backward integration strategy, supplying critical components to its upcoming 4W-EV powertrain plant. Strategically located for logistical efficiency, the plant will serve key OEM clients across the region. This move strengthens Uno Minda’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in India's evolving EV landscape.
