The Uttar Pradesh Government has postponed the date for submitting financial
bids for the Upper Ganga canal expressway from 5 August to 20 August 2010.
The state government has extended the bid due to the lack of interest of
private companies for investing in the state. An example of this is the
Kushinagar airport project which did not receive a single bid.
The 150-km-long, eight-laned access-controlled project, which is to be built
on PPP and connect Uttar Pradesh from Sanauta Bridge in Greater Noida to Purkazi
on the Uttarakhand border, is to be built at a cost of Rs 8,200 crore.
The state cabinet has already cleared all the necessary formalities including
the RFP and draft concession agreement and has also approved the bid parameter
and the concession period.
