Vanya Steels, a subsidiary of A-One Steel Group, will invest Rs 100 crore to set up a 10 MW waste-to-energy (WtE) power plant at its Koppal facility in Karnataka. The project, which will use advanced Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB) technology, is scheduled for commissioning by July 31, 2025.
The plant will convert residual industrial waste heat from the steelmaking process into clean electricity, reducing dependence on grid power and cutting operational costs. "Using advanced Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB) technology, the project will convert industrial waste heat into clean electricity, marking a significant milestone in sustainable manufacturing for the region," said Krishan Kumar Jallan, Founder & Chairman of A-One Steel Group.
The WHRB-based captive power plant will help lower carbon emissions while enhancing energy efficiency, contributing to environmental sustainability and India’s Aatma Nirbhar Bharat vision.
