Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has reallocated a 48-acre land parcel in Sector-28 in Noida to Vama Sundari Investments, a joint venture between HCL Group and Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Megadevelopment, for setting up a semiconductor project.
The earlier plot in Sector 10 faced infrastructure and land acquisition challenges, prompting Vama Sundari to seek an alternative location. Sector 28 already hosts a Medical Device Park and other industries, ensuring the required infrastructure for the project. On 06 March, 2025, YEIDA issued a fresh letter of intent to Vama Sundari, which plans to invest Rs 3,706 crore in an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility, creating employment for 4,000 persons. The company accepted the offer and signed the document.
Last month, Vama Sundari wrote to YEIDA highlighting the lack of infrastructure at the previously allocated Sector-10 site, causing project delays. In November 2024, the Uttar Pradesh government approved incentives exceeding Rs 8,500 crore for two semiconductor manufacturing projects in the YEIDA region, including Vama Sundari's and Tarq Semiconductors promoted by Hiranandani Group.
Both companies await the Centre's final approval. Vama Sundari is now required to submit the fresh letter of intent to the Centre, updating them about the land reallocation.
