The Australian government has approved Adani’s plan to build a rail line for its Carmichael coal mine project in Queensland.
Queensland state's Coordinator General had, last month, cleared the 300 km rail line called the North Galilee Basin Rail (NGBR), which would link Adani's Carmichael Coal mine with Abbot point coal terminal. The coal and rail project is estimated to cost Australian $16.5 billion (approx Rs 92,920.53 crore).
The Carmichael coal mine project is expected to provide electricity for upto 100 million people in India. The rail line will enable transportation of 100 million tonne of coal per annum.
The Adani Group has now received the final nod for its significant investments in mining and infrastructure in Queensland.
