The Mumbai-Delhi airport modernisation
project has got further delayed by at least two weeks, with the empowered Group
of Ministers (e-GoM) referring the matter back to the Inter Ministerial Group.
In the meeting of 5 December 2005 in
which the final selection of bidders was supposed to be made, the e-GoM sent the
issue back to the IMG and asked the latter to finalize its report in two weeks.
It is learnt that out of the six
bidders in the final round, only two -- Reliance-ASA and GMR-Fraport -- have got
a high rating -- over 80 on a scale of 100.
The various entities involved in the
selection process are:
- Airplan (France): global consultant
- Inter-ministerial committee of
officials
- Inter-ministerial group headed by
the Civil Aviation Secretary
- Empowered Group of Ministers headed
by the Defence Ministry
