The Union civil aviation has mooted a
proposal of developing a new international airport in Mumbai, even as plans of
modernizing the existing airport are intact.
According to Civil Aviation Secretary,
Mr Ajay Prasad, the proposed airport will come at some distance away from the
city. He further added that two-three sites have already been identified,
although no details are available.
The proposed greenfield project will
be distinct from the modernisation of the existing airport, and will follow a
separate bidding procedure.
