Krishak Bharati Co-operative (Kribhco)
has decided to re-invite bids for the EPC contract for its urea and ammonia expansion project at Hazira
in Gujarat.
The price bids from Snamprogatti and
Technimont (both Italian companies) were found to be on higher side, it is
learnt. Technimont
was the lowest bidder with quotation of Rs.2,550 crore which was higher than
that proposed by the Public Investment Board (PIB).
The company has floated global tenders
for its Rs.1,750-crore project with capacity of urea and ammonia to be 3,500 and
2,000 tpd respectively.
The bids have been re-invited for the
second time and now the company has relaxed the bidding norms including separate
bidder for ammonia and urea plants. Capacity has also been increased instead of
the lump sum turnkey project (LSTK) basis creating more competition to get a
reasonable price.
The proposed fertiliser project will
be the first one after 1997.
