On 21 December 2006 the Cabinet
Committee on Economic Affairs approved the construction of an
international terminal building at Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat.
The new terminal will be constructed
by the Airports Authority of India with an estimated cost of Rs.290.92 crore,
including a foreign exchange component of Rs.27.35 crore, in two phases.
Phase I of the project will entail an
investment of Rs.195.92 crore and is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
Phase II of the project is estimated to cost around Rs.95 crore.
