On 5 March 2007, Reliance Wind Energy
(RWE), a subsidiary of Reliance Energy has signed an agreement with Suzlon
Energy for setting up a 150 MW wind power project in Sangli district of
Maharashtra.
The project to be set up by Suzlon
Energy will be implemented in two phases, entailing an investment of Rs.900
crore. Work on the project is scheduled for completion by March 2008.
The project is expected to generate
380 million units per annum after completion, which will be purchased by
Reliance Energy for its Mumbai distribution business.
