Moser Baer Photo Voltaic is in talks
with two-three states including Tamil Nadu for a post-2008 expansion blueprint
that will entail an additional investment outlay of Rs.2,000 crore at a new
site.
The site is expected to be finalised
shortly as the company is evaluating potential manufacturing sites on parameters
such as logistics (proximity to ports), manpower, and state government
incentives. While the company's existing manufacturing location in Greater
Noida envisages 400 MW-plus of capacity plans, it has to look at an additional
site for capacity expansion beyond that level.
The company is also looking at the
possibility of acquiring additional land in Greater Noida itself, although there
are risk mitigation issues to be considered.
MBPV had recently announced the
completion of the first phase of its 80 MW silicon crystalline project (40 MW is
up and running), and expects the second phase of Greater Noida project to be
commissioned early-2008.
