Reliance Power Transmission, an EPC
division of Reliance Energy bagged two contracts worth Rs.1200 crore for
execution of 400 kV extra high voltage transmission system in the Western part
of the country. This includes
- Western Region System Strengthening
Scheme (WRSSS) Project B, covering about 1000 km of 400 kV double circuit
transmission lines in Maharashtra
- Western Region System Strengthening
Scheme (WRSSS) Project C spreading around 500 km in Gujarat.
The project involves laying 1,519 km
of double circuit 400 kV D/C transmission lines. The company has also applied
for obtaining two separate transmission license in this regard from Central
Electricity Regulatory Commission. The nine lines comprising around 4,300 towers
made of around 60,000 tpa of steel, 18,000 km of conductor and around one
million insulators will be commissioned by the end-2009.
