Power
Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) is likely to sign up for a $400 million
(approx Rs.2,000 crore) loan from the World Bank. Along with this, PGCIL is in
talks with Asian Development Bank for another $200 million (approx Rs.1,000
crore) loan.
The company has lined up investment of about Rs.55,000 crore by the end of the
XI Plan period. The company has so far availed
itself of $450 million (approx Rs.2,033 crore) loan in the first share of loan
and another $400 million (approx Rs.2,000 crore) in second tranche and
has signed up for another loan of $600 million (approx Rs.3,000 crore) in
early-2008.
