Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has formed a wholly owned subsidiary
for carrying out independent power system operations. The subsidiary will be
called as "Power System Operation Corporation".
The subsidiary is likely to take care of all the grid management functions of
PGCIL. In 2008, PGCIL's board had granted approval for setting up the subsidiary
on the advice of the Union Government for operation of national and regional
load dispatch centres.
