Suzlon has bagged an order from Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) to
set up a 52 MW wind power plant near Jakhao in Kachchh.
GSPC has already tied up funds for the project and advance payment has
already been made to Suzlon. However, GSPC has not yet revealed the details of
the funding for the proposed wind mill. The wind power plant is slated to be
commissioned before September 2009.
GSPC had invited bids to set up a 200 MW wind farm to generate clean energy
in the state in January 2009. But, out of the 13 companies who had purchased the
bid document only two companies, Suzlon and Vestas, had finally bid for the
project. The cost of the 200 MW power project is estimated to be Rs 1,200 crore.
