L&T MHI Turbine Generators, a JV by L&T and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, was
formed for setting up manufacturing facilities in India to build turbines and
generators using super-critical technology.
The JV company is expected to invest Rs 1,252 crore, of which, Rs 1,030 crore
has been earmarked for purchasing land, carrying out construction works and
procuring plant machinery.
The company has also placed orders for critical equipments and has acquired
70 acre at Hazira, in Gujarat. While it plans to kick-start production by June
2010, the deadline for completion of all required facilities is March 2015.
