Gujarat Minerals Development Corporation (GMDC) has earmarked Rs 484 crore to
generate 81 MW of wind energy by 2012.
While in the FY11, GMDC is planning to invest Rs 242 crore for generation of
40.5 MW at a wind farm in Jodia in Jamnagar district of the state, an equal
amount is likely to be invested in the FY12 for a similar project at Porbandar.
Of the total project cost of these projects, 70 per cent is likely to come
through market borrowing and 30 per cent internal accruals. GMDC is likely to
raise around Rs 150 crore in the next two years from internal resources and
tie-up with Gujarat State Financial Services for the loan component.
