ACME Clean Energy, a 70:30 joint venture between India’s ACME Group and Japan’s IHI Corporation, has announced progress in its green ammonia project in Gopalpur, Odisha.
Since signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2023, the venture has established its partnership, secured the required land, and completed the front-end engineering design (FEED) through a global engineering firm. The project aligns with the India–Japan Clean Energy Partnership, bolstering bilateral cooperation on clean hydrogen and ammonia, as highlighted during the 15th Japan–India Annual Summit in Tokyo in August 2025.
Supporting India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, the JV aims to position India as a leading producer and exporter of green hydrogen and ammonia while enhancing Japan’s clean fuel sourcing for power generation and industrial sectors. ACME and IHI emphasize the project’s role in advancing decarbonisation, energy security, employment generation, and a future-ready sustainable energy ecosystem.
