Adani Power Jharkhand (APJL) has begun commercial operations of Unit-II of 800 MW capacity of the 2x800 MW ultra-supercritical power project (USTCPP) in Godda district of Jharkhand, on 25 June, 2023. The successful completion of reliability run tests, as per contract has been completed.
Accordingly, APJL will export entire power generated from the Godda USTCPP on commercial basis directly to Bangladesh through the dedicated 400 kV transmission lines, with a net capacity of 1,496 MW.
APJL, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Power has a 25-year Power (PPA) with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
In a first for India, the project has deployed ultra-supercritical technology, and incorporates flue gas desulphuriser (FGD) and selective catalytic reconverter (SCR) equipment to minimize emissions. This is in compliance with the futuristic norms announced by the Ministry of Environment and Forests and Climate Change (MOEF&CC). With the commissioning of this power plant, Adani Group is positioned to offer a reliable source of electricity to Bangladesh.
