BITS Pilani has announced a major expansion plan, including the launch of a new AI+ campus in Amaravati and an investment of Rs 1,219 crore to upgrade infrastructure across its existing campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad.
The announcement was made during the 2025 convocation, with Chancellor Kumar Mangalam Birla stating, “The latest initiatives reflect our continued commitment to reimagining higher education in both physical and digital realms.” The Amaravati AI+ campus, spread across 35 acres, will be developed in two phases with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore over five years.
The first phase will cater to 3,000 students, expanding to 7,000 in the second phase. Program offerings will include AI/ML master’s degrees, cotutelle PhD programs, and undergraduate twinning courses. The campus will feature IoT-enabled smart infrastructure.
Under Project Vistaar, Rs 60 crore will be used to upgrade undergraduate labs, aiming to increase overall student capacity from 18,700 to 26,000 by 2030-31. Additionally, BITS Pilani Digital was launched to offer 32 online programs to over 100,000 learners, combining flexible learning with real-world projects.
