Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that BSNL will establish data centres at five locations nationwide, including Guwahati. This move aims to boost local employment and reduce migration of skilled youth to other cities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated India’s indigenous 4G network, making India the fifth country globally to develop its own mobile technology. The indigenous 4G rollout includes 92,633 new towers built with fully Indian-made equipment, fulfilling PM Modi’s vision of a self-reliant Bharat. The BSNL network will be upgraded to 5G soon, with 6G expected by 2030.
Assam is also emerging as a semiconductor hub, with the Tata Group developing a chip manufacturing unit in Jagiroad. These initiatives position Assam as a growing technology centre under the leadership of PM Modi and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
