Bengaluru is set for a sporting revolution with the announcement of a Rs 1,650 crore world-class sports complex at Surya City, Bommasandra.

Unveiling the project on 21 August, 2025, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the initiative would mark “Bengaluru’s big leap into global sports,” adding that it will provide a major boost to the city’s sporting culture and urban growth. Spread across 75 acres, the mega complex will include India’s second-largest stadium with a seating capacity of 60,000.

Designed to meet global benchmarks, the facility will also feature indoor and outdoor arenas, Olympic-size swimming pools, advanced training centres, and a modern gym. Complementary amenities such as hotels, guest houses, hostels, and a convention hall are planned, making the venue suitable for international tournaments and cultural events alike.

Deputy CM highlighted that the Surya City location aligns with Bengaluru’s expansion, strengthening infrastructure in an emerging corridor. With construction expected to start soon, the project aims to nurture talent, attract global events, and place Bengaluru firmly on the international sports map.
