Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced that 71 percent of construction work on the Bhogapuram International Airport in Vizianagaram district has been completed.
The government is targeting June 2026 for full completion of the project. The Minister visited the construction site on 08 April, 2025, accompanied by GMR officials, the project’s developers. He highlighted major progress milestones - 100 percent completion of earthworks, 97 percent of the runway, 92 percent of the taxiway, and 60 percent of the roofing.
He credited the N Chandrababu Naidu-led government for expediting the pace of work and reaffirmed its commitment to on-time delivery of the airport. “This will undoubtedly transform the region’s connectivity, infrastructure, and economic landscape,” he added.
Once operational, the airport is expected to significantly enhance regional air connectivity, stimulate industrial activity, and open up new avenues for investment and tourism in North Andhra (Uttarandhra).
