Purnia Airport in Bihar is almost ready for operations, with 95 percent of construction work on the terminal building, runway, roads, and other facilities completed.
Officials aim to hand over the airport by September 5, ahead of its formal inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17. “The airport, with the longest runway in Bihar at 9,000 meters, will be the fourth in the state after Patna, Gaya, and Darbhanga,” authorities said. Developed at a cost of around Rs 400 crore, the airport will feature modern facilities including a terminal, apron, cargo complex, AC chiller plant, STP, water and fire tanks, electric substation, aviation fuel farm, commercial plaza, surface parking, and aerobridge.
With superior road connectivity and ongoing widening projects, the airport will serve Koshi-Seemanchal and neighbouring regions. The airport code PXN has appeared on IndiGo’s website, with ticket booking expected soon, generating excitement among residents eager for the first flight.
