The Bihar Cabinet on 19 August, 2025 approved the construction of two five-star hotels in Rajgir (Nalanda district) and a five-star resort in Vaishali district under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure.
According to the tourism department’s proposal, the hotels will be built on 10 acres near Mela Maidan in Rajgir, while the resort will come up on 10 acres at the newly inaugurated Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa in Vaishali. Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary, S Siddharth, said the projects will be developed in line with the Infrastructure Development Enabling (Amendment) Act, 2023, with the land provided on “lease” to private developers for construction and operation. He noted, “A huge number of tourists visit Rajgir and Vaishali, and the new projects will ensure better amenities and quality accommodation.”
The Cabinet press note added that these initiatives will not only enhance tourism outside the state capital but also boost economic and social activities, leading to fresh employment and trade opportunities.
