Delhi’s Ghogha Dairy now hosts a compressed bio-gas (CBG) plant inaugurated by CM Rekha Gupta, capable of processing 100 tonne of wet waste daily and generating four tonne of CNG each day on 27 September, 2025.
The fully automated plant, set up by MCD and Indraprastha Gas (IGL) at a cost of Rs 30 crore, will store CNG at an integrated pump for sale. This initiative aims to reduce landfill dumping by processing local wet waste and is part of broader city efforts under Sewa Pakhwada to achieve a garbage-free Delhi through waste-to-energy solutions. Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the plant’s use of household waste, while MCD provided the land.
In addition, IGL plans to complete a CNG plant in Okhla by December and establish another in Ghazipur, further expanding sustainable fuel infrastructure in the capital region.
