Inox Air Products (Inox AP) has commenced construction of a Rs 500-crore electronic specialty gas hub in Dholera, Gujarat, aimed at supporting India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, especially Tata Electronics’ upcoming Rs 91,000-crore fab in collaboration with Taiwan's Powerchip.
The hub will produce ultra-high purity (UHP) gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and hydrogen, essential for semiconductor fabrication. Managing Director Siddharth Jain said the facility is expected to be operational within 12 to 18 months and aligns with Tata’s production timelines. Inox AP is the first industrial gas company to secure land in the area and plans phased investments over two to three years to build storage and delivery infrastructure for around 40 types of gases not yet produced in India.
While initial supplies will be imported, the company plans to localise manufacturing through global tie-ups. The long-term strategy includes exporting from Dholera, though this will require separate investments beyond the current outlay. Inox AP currently employs over 1,800 people, with plans to expand its workforce.
