Chhattisgarh Finance Minister OP Choudhary presented a Rs 1.65 lakh crore Budget on 03 March, 2025, centred on Good Governance-Accelerating Infrastructure, Technology, Industrial Growth (GATI), focusing on economic revival, tourism, and infrastructure, particularly in the Naxal-affected Bastar region.
The budget outlines urban modernisation, rural development, and industrial expansion to make Chhattisgarh a self-sustaining, investment-friendly state. A Rs 250 crore has been allocated for Bastar aimed at security, education, and industrial growth. Infrastructure development has been allocated Rs 9,500 crore, including Rs 2,000 crore for new roads, enhancing connectivity and trade. The Raipur-Durg metro rail project will move forward with Rs five crore for feasibility studies, potentially modernising urban transport.
The education sector has got a major boost, with Rs 50 crore allocated for Chhattisgarh’s first National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Raipur. Sports development has also been prioritised, with Rs five crore designated for a football stadium and badminton hall in Jashpur, encouraging youth participation.
