A high-level meeting chaired by Amardeep Bhatia, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), reviewed key issues affecting mega infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Delhi, and Jharkhand.
Over Rs 13,501 crore has been spent on these projects, with 21 issues across 17 projects discussed. The meeting aimed to enhance inter-ministerial and state coordination through the Project Monitoring Group (PMG).
Among the reviewed projects, nine were under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), including the Rs 9,623-crore Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway. The establishment of new NITs in strategic locations was also highlighted to bridge regional disparities in technical education.
The DPIIT Secretary stressed the importance of strengthening project monitoring frameworks and urged private stakeholders to utilise the PMG mechanism for expedited implementation. The review is expected to accelerate project execution and contribute to economic development in the four states.
