The Delhi government is pushing for the swift completion of an underpass and flyover at the busy junction of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Gurgaon-Jaipur Highway, aiming to tackle the city’s persistent traffic congestion.
Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma emphasised the need for rapid construction to prevent time loss, fuel wastage, and rising air pollution levels due to traffic gridlock in west and outer Delhi. The project, being implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is crucial for improving connectivity between Najafgarh, Dwarka, Rohini, and National Highway 8.
He also stressed the importance of addressing construction flaws and ensuring long-term solutions. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated, "Our goal is to find ways to control pollution, which increases significantly due to heavy traffic." Regular project reviews will ensure timely, citizen-focused completion.
