Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 (T1) will be fully operational from 15 April, 2025, with all flights currently operating from Terminal 2 (T2) being relocated to T1. This is part of Delhi International Airport’s (DIAL) modernisation efforts, aims to enhance efficiency and passenger experience.

The modernisation of T1, completed under the Phase 3A expansion project, has equipped the terminal with advanced technologies, including a Facial Recognition System (DIGIYATRA), 20 Automated Tray Retrieval Systems (ATRS) for security checks, an Individual Carrier System (ICS) for baggage handling, and 108 Common Usage Self-Service (CUSS) kiosks for check-in. As part of this transition, all flights currently operating from Terminal 2 (T2) will be shifted to T1.

Following this expansion, Delhi Airport will be the only airport in India with the capacity to handle over 100 million passengers annually. Currently, T2 handles around 270-280 air traffic movements daily, serving over 46,000 passengers.
